About Us

Zenone was formed in 2000 by Gina Kearsey, who is the Managing Director.

With a BSc in Molecular Genetics, Gina was well-placed to predict, many years ago, that software developers with biosciences training would be required to manage the burgeoning mass of biological data.  Consequently she extended her qualifications and skills by gaining an MSc in Biological Computation, so becoming a fully-trained software developer with data management, mathematical and statistical skills.

Her interest in finding solutions from data sets led her to complete a PhD in biometrical genetics (applying statistics to gene discovery). Together, these achievements have given her the confidence to approach and solve biosciences and biomedical data management issues for her clients worldwide.

Gina has 20 years experience in software development, of which databases and data management have played a large part.  Prior to founding Zenone she worked as:

 ·  Database Manager at Horticulture Research International,
  · Wellesbourne, Warwick

 ·   Software Developer at the Wellcome Trust  Centre for Human
 ·
Genetics, Headington, Oxford

 ·   Head of Bioinformatics, Oxagen, Abingdon.

Over the years her name has become synonymous with quality.  She believes in delivering a quality product and a quality service with ongoing support.  This she achieves by working very closely with clients throughout the entire developmental stages, implementation process and post-installation. The attainment of quality is a core value of Zenone.

Gina has established an extensive network of clients in academic circles, in the Oxfordshire biotechnology and hospital sectors, and in Europe and the USA.  In addition, she enjoys working with local businesses in Coventry and Warwick where she has clients in the retail and travel sectors.

Whenever possible, Gina passes on her business knowledge as a mentor to women starting in business.

Professor Mike Kearsey BSc, PhD

Mike is a director of Zenone, whilst also being the Professor of Biometrical Genetics at the University of Birmingham, UK.

Mike is an international authority on biometrical genetics.  He gives training in experimental design and statistics to our biotechnology clients, particularly to molecular biologists and those in regulatory affairs.
